I
am a Ph.D. candidate in the Graduate Group in Ecology at the
University of California, Davis under Robert J. Hijmans, where
I specialize in spatial data science. My academic interests lie in using data science and machine learning methods to explore issues of development and social equality from a quantitative perspective. My research can be found at https://orcid.org/0000-0003-4258-8052
My
dissertation topic is "Women's Empowerment in Africa",
which explores spatial variation in women's empowerment, including
education, employment, access to family planning methods, access to
reproductive health care, decision-making, and intimiate partner
violence. I am the lead creator of the Female Empowerment Index
(FEMI), which tracks these issues, jointly and individually, across
time and space.
